Great Falls Montana Economy Grows 7.4% in 2018

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis this morning released Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data for 2018 covering every county in the country. I am very pleased to report that Cascade County (the Great Falls metro area) showed significant economic growth.

Our local GDP grew 7.4% in 2018, an increase of $288,802,000!

Our real GDP growth, after inflation, was 3.8%. This places us second amongst major Montana counties. Gallatin beat us with 5.2% real GDP growth. Missoula was at 3.3%, Flathead 2.0%, Yellowstone 1.9%, Lewis & Clark 1.3% and Silver Bow 0.8%.

For the first time, the Great Falls MSA GDP climbed above $4 billion, hitting $4,209,418,000.

In the last five years (2013-2018) our GDP grew 25%. Local private industries portion of GDP grew 29% during the same period.

In the last ten years (2008-2018) our GDP grew 42%. Local private industries portion of GDP grew 48% during the same period.

THANK YOU to the businesses who made this growth happen!

Let’s top this in 2020!!!
