Evolving Federal Contractor Cybersecurity Requirements
April 27, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
If your company plans to do business with the government, cybersecurity plans are now required for compliance. This three hour workshop with nationally recognized presenter, Adam Austin, will step companies through the process of getting compliant with cybersecurity requirements.
Description:
Adam Austin, Cybersecurity Lead at Totem.Tech–a small business DoD prime contractor–will lead a workshop on the evolving cybersecurity requirements for Federal government contractors. The workshop will focus on the two “complimentary and concurrent” DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks: the DoD 800-171 Assessment Methodology and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). Attendees will learn how to counsel contractors on calculating a compliance score for their cybersecurity program, and will be exposed to several free or low-cost resources for improving their program to obtain a CMMC certification. There will be plenty of time for discussion so come ready with questions!
About the presenter:
Adam Austin has a decade of experience securing classified, unclassified, and HIPAA-environment US Government IT systems, having worked with NASA, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and all branches of the Department of Defense. Adam holds a Master’s in Information Assurance from Capitol Technology University, and is an ISACA Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Adam’s goal is to leverage his experience and education to help small businesses implement affordable risk-based cybersecurity programs. To this end, Adam and his colleagues at Totem.Tech created the lightweight Totemâ„¢ Cybersecurity Planning Tool, and also regularly conduct workshops on DoD contractor cybersecurity compliance around the country.
