Description:
Most people who start an early childhood business spend too much time asking, “How do I start?” and not enough time asking, “Should I start?”
This session introduces a practical framework for evaluating, planning, and launching an Early Care and Education (ECE) business through three distinct phases: The Idea Stage, The Planning Stage, and The Launch Stage.
Participants will learn how successful business owners make high-quality, data-driven decisions before investing significant time, money, and energy into a new venture. The session emphasizes market demand, financial viability, operational readiness, leadership capacity, and risk management before focusing on licensing, curriculum, facilities, or programming.
Special attention will be given to evaluating startup capital needs, understanding the risks associated with debt financing, assessing the limitations of grant funding, and recognizing when the best decision may be to pause, pivot, or stop a business idea altogether.
By focusing on business fundamentals first, participants will gain a clear framework for determining whether an ECE business opportunity is viable, sustainable, and aligned with their professional and personal goals.
