VBOS Rootin Tootin Poopers, LLC, a Woman Owned Business based in Sun River, Montana, is owned and operated by Suzette, who has made tremendous strides in her government contracting journey with the support of Great Falls APEX. Suzette began her government contracting journey in 2023, working closely with Great Falls APEX to establish a strong foundation for success. Through personalized advising, we guided her through essential steps such as SAM registration and annual renewals to ensure her business was properly positioned for federal contracting.
Over the past year, Suzette has continued to build on that foundation through one-on-one technical assistance and planning sessions with Great Falls APEX. Together, we developed a detailed capability statement that effectively highlights her company’s strengths and value to potential government buyers. Building on her new capability statement and growing confidence, Suzette attended Montana APEX GovMatch 2025, the state’s largest government matchmaking event. There, she engaged with representatives from multiple government agencies and prime contractors, exploring new opportunities, including potential work with the U.S. Forest Service.
Great Falls APEX also provided guidance on using market research and analysis tools to identify solicitations that align with her business goals and to help assess the competition across Montana. Through consistent advising sessions and her own determined engagement, Suzette has deepened her understanding of the federal procurement process. Suzette has already achieved tangible results, securing partnerships and completing work with prime contractors such as the Walsh Group and performing projects at Malmstrom Air Force Base. These experiences have expanded her capabilities and strengthened her confidence in navigating the contracting environment.
Most recently, Suzette has taken proactive steps to further expand her opportunities by pursuing both Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) certifications through the SBA. Although her initial WOSB application was not approved, Suzette’s determination
and trust in the Great Falls APEX team have kept her moving forward. Together, we are reviewing feedback, updating her documentation, and preparing a resubmission to ensure her next application fully meets SBA requirements. Her persistence and willingness to learn through the process exemplify the resilience needed to succeed in government contracting.
